One of my first ham radio builds was the six meter Squalo. The antenna has proven to be effective and very functional.
The antenna tuned up rather nicely on the ground. Put it on a 10 foot pole attached to a tripod. Was able to move the resonate frequency around at will. The antenna is not the most efficient antenna as it does send signal but acts much like a dipole. Will require a couple of them in series to achieve any sort of gain. With that said I have made contacts in several regions with the antenna. USA, Canada, Mexico South America and on occasion Western Europe.
